One Image, Many Parts: A Celebration of Creativity and Community 🌳🎨

Last month, in September, we brought 15 wonderful participants together at The Welcome Church in Woking for a very special art workshop, led by our brilliant art volunteer, Helen.

The idea was simple: “One Image & Many Parts.”

And that’s exactly what we created.

Everyone was given their own canvas and invited to paint a tree, bird or animal in their own style. There were bright colours, bold ideas, curious creatures, beautiful birds and lots of happy experimentation. Around the tables, brushes were busy, paint was flowing, and there was plenty of chatting, laughter and encouragement.

But the real magic happened when all the individual paintings were brought together.

One canvas became part of another. One bird joined another branch. Different colours, different ideas and different artistic styles all came together to create one wonderful shared image.

It was a lovely reminder that, sometimes, the smallest part can make a big difference to the whole. Everyone brought something unique to the project — and without each individual contribution, the finished artwork simply wouldn’t be the same.

There was something really special about seeing people work alongside each other, sharing ideas and enjoying the process. It wasn’t about being an experienced artist or getting everything “right”. It was about having a go, being creative and being part of something together.

And hopefully, the story of this artwork won’t end at the workshop.

We are hoping that the finished piece can be donated for a short time to Sam Beare Hospice in Woking, where it can be displayed in their Garden Room. It would be wonderful to see this community creation bring some colour, warmth and joy to another space — and to know that something made together can be enjoyed by others too.

A huge thank you to Helen for bringing the idea to life and guiding everyone through the workshop, and an equally big thank you to all 15 participants who picked up a brush and got involved.

You each added your own little piece — and together, you created something beautiful.

One image. Many parts. Fifteen creative minds. One wonderful community. 💚🎨🌳🐦
