We’re really pleased to share that a member of the GIVE team has now completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training!
At GIVE, supporting mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of what we do, so this is a fantastic step forward for our work in the community.
So what is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is training that helps people recognise when someone may be struggling with their mental health and gives them the confidence to offer initial support. It’s a bit like physic
al first aid — it doesn’t replace professional help, but it means someone is there to listen, reassure, and guide people towards the right support when they need it.
What does this mean for GIVE?
Having a trained Mental Health First Aider in our team helps us to:
Notice early signs when someone might be struggling
Respond calmly and supportively in difficult situations
Offer a listening ear and help people access the right services
Strengthen our befriending support
Build confidence across our team when supporting others
Most importantly, it helps us continue creating a non judgemental, understanding, and supportive space for everyone who engages with GIVE.
Why it matters
We know that small conversations and moments of support can make a big difference. This training helps us be even better prepared to offer that support when it’s needed most.
We’ll continue to invest in training and development that helps us grow, support our community, and make a real difference to people’s wellbeing.
Thanks for being part of the GIVE journey đź’™
