Creative Connections: Thinking outside the box

Updated: Jun 27

The Art Project is a pilot project by GIVE Surrey. We are a mental health and well-being charity (www.givesurrey.org) which began as a covid support group in 2020.

GIVE focuses on early, light touch, community led interventions to improve residents' mental health and wellbeing.

This 6-week pilot Art Project, facilitated by an art tutor, was designed to give the participants an opportunity to think outside the box and create new connections and friendships, that would carry on after the project ended.

The stacked boxes represent the participants' happy memories and how we can build on them by acknowledging small moments that make us smile.

The art was created through recycled materials, printed paper, and cardboard boxes and the final installation is fully recyclable.

It has been a pleasurable experience, connecting with new friends and creating some thing together. Givesurrey has great potential of progressing heaps and bounds. I got lots of inspiration by being a part of this group and our lovely community. Let's all Give and enjoy the pleasure of connecting with New Connections and build up a strong happy family.
